custom woodcraft on wood

Philosophy
Trees first appeared on earth approximately 385 million years ago. Some 320 million years later, the first primates began to climb the world's ancient trees and make them home. Wood has been with us since the beginning.
A material born of the atmosphere's carbon dioxide, in the right hands wood can be turned into our most treasured everyday objects. At WoodenHeart, we honor that tradition through meticulous craft — joining, carving, and shaping wood into furniture, doors, and structures that carry the warmth and life of the tree they came from.

Workflow
Our process begins with design. Design is critical. Beauty, style, consistency — what is the point of custom work if not to look exceptional?
We can use a client's finished design or make a design in house. Typically, we start by meeting with a client and discussing aesthetic likes and dislikes. We look at images together and create an idea for the overall look.
Then back at the shop we turn ideas into a 3D drawing with a few options that become the starting point for developing a design. We work out the details and refine the model until we settle on exactly the right look.
A finished design is a 3D rendering that includes every detail of the piece so the client knows exactly what he or she is getting. We then use the same model as the basis for the shop drawings used to build it.
