Smell the roses reminder note

I subconsciously dismissed this recommendation at first, which was easily done. After-all, this advise directly contradicts our current societal norm. This norm has been engrained in me (as I assume it has been in most Americans, if not all global citizens): Accomplish the most that can possibly be done!

A friend of mine, whom I befriended post TBI, while recovering in Seattle, consistently (Initially in person, and most recently over the phone) reminds me to slow down.

I’m reminded of the great value in slowing down which was instilled in me by my practice of yoga (yoga in total: which is far more than a physical practice, solely). My mindfulness practice too, substantiates this reality. Granted, in many ways, they support one another.

Now, while living in Bellingham WA, I am reminded too by Kija (the friend who lives in a different city than I ((as the vast majority of my old friends do now)), who gave me these instructions originally, to slow down & does still.

I value this reminder greatly. A consistent reminder, is needed. It’s awfully easy to get caught up in the present madness of go, go, go!
