When the sun comes out in Seattle, the vast majority of Seattleites, utilize this opportunity to do the out-door activities that have teased us all winter.
Many relocated here, largely, due to the accesability & prolific beauty of the natural resources available to residents (many opportunities aren’t far away or hard to access!)
Many natives, but those too, who have earned the status of “true Seattleites”, are certainly much more brave than most, because they are undeniably committed to their favored activities, depite the rain & cold inherent here.
My dad, for instance, loves the cold as it reminds him of skiing (a beloved, long Standing hobby of his).
When it’s warm & sunny (spring & summer – but much more largely spring here in Seattle) a much larger amount of residents flock to the outdoors, to exercise their favorite outdoor activity amidst warmth & sunlight.
There is a sense of freedom, when enjoying time outdoors, particularly when being cloistered inside for what can begin to feel like FOREVER (6 moths of predominant darkness will do that).
I’m inside writing in a cafe currently, as this activity (writing), facilitates my much needed break from the beauteous sun. I’m genetically 1/2 European, and 1/2 Irish. My genetics don’t, therefore, lend to ,e enjoying warmth, or the UVs embedded in sun rays, for any extended amount of time.
My love of the sun, ranks far above the practicality of avoiding a sun burn.
