(Delfina in SanFrancisco = the last restaurant I worked at)

Patience with myself, is the most difficult attribute for me to foster (forever, but due to my current critical Traumatic Brain Injury struggles, this lacking skill ((patience)) is front & center). In order for patience to once-again occur naturally within me, practice employing patience, is neccesary. My grandest patience practice now:  doing physical tasks that used to be “second nature” & are now incredibly difficult.

But, I’ve learned that, I must forge on!

For instance: I no longer own cramic pates, or glass cups. I only own plastic plates & “glasses” now.

Rationale:

Cleaning up dropped food, or spilled beverages, (which happens consistently) AND metal as well as glass table-settings, necessitates ample food/drink clean-up & invites self-harm. (Being uncoordinated, is extra worrisome when cleaning-up broken dishes, that were previously ((before my plastic utensils were employed)) sharp!!)))

At least now, it’s just the food that’s wasted :/.  Not ceramic/glass plates & glasses that must be cleaned up, discarded & then replaced. Ample bandaids are no longer needed!

This trial is particularly repulsive to me. Here’s why: I used to be able to manage 2 plates on 1 hand/arm while simultaneously holding 1 plate with the other hand, and navigating a full restaurant dining room! I’d do so skillfully (avoiding unforeseen obsticles) AND then serve guests their food gracefully.

After-all, skill-full carrying, as well as artful presentation, is part of what a waitress is payed for, as well as being vigilantly attentive and a good conversationalist = great tips! Currently, I can hold just 1 plate in 1 hand & even then, I must be extra-thoughtful, or I often manage to drop it. Ah well, as my implementation of plastic place-settings suggest, all in time.
