Seattle, very thoughtfully, is a city dedicated to quality of life.
Quality of life, necessitates a solid foundation, which supports all else. 1 of these foundational elements, and truly, among the most basic, is delicious & nutritious food.
To this end, Seattle’s SNAP (supplemental nutritional assistance program) will not only convert the amount (of your choice) of $ on your snap card, to tokens, which are accepted by vendors at the farmer’s market, but the government will also match any amount you choose to convert.
For instance: today I converted $10 from my snap card, into farmer’s market tokens, & therefore, I received $20 worth of farmers market tokens.
And, an extra + for me today, (as I only brought my backpack to carry all of the goods that I purchased at the farmer’s market, the many blocks home). The tokens that I procured today, will remain valid until the beginning of next year (so, 1 & 1/2 months).
Seattle offers subsidized rent, health, bus transport, and food (even “fancy” ((well made, procured & transported)) healthy foods) to disabled survivors that register their disability with the government.
And for me, there’s joy too, inherent in perusing farmer’s markets, where, as a client, you’re able to talk directly to the vendor, whom also made the food you’re about to consume.
Unemployment (not simply by choice => to travel) is certainly a new & unexpected  circumstance for me. One that I’m, (at long-last) joyfully fully endeavoring in.
I must say, that viewing Seattle through this unique lense, makes me incredibly thankful to call this home.
