1 year on either side of my accident, isn’t held by my memory at all. My entire past, is hazy (aside from the emotional times of my early childhood – which is extremely fortunate, as my early childhood memories are very sweet).
Once 1 memory is jogged, associated memories come to cognition speedily. Related facts too, come back to me, and associated problem solving is enabled.
The facts that I’m searching for, were obtained in my past (obviously), but have been shrouded or relocated due to my brain injury.
The paths that I once used to mentally travel, in order to reach the memories that I’m seeking for reference, were irreparably damaged. So now, new pathways are needed.
I’m less interested in (& capable of) relaying scientific information, than I am in specifying how these situations made me feel. I’ve always favored the right side of my brain (emotion) & it wasn’t hurt in the accident, but my left side (logic) was.
Quite a predicament I’m in, but…the good news is, that because the skills that reside in that part of my brain weren’t ever stellar, I’ve mastered some handy workarounds.
All I need do, is remember those workarounds, which have served me so well!
They feel quite natural though = intuitive.
