I really can’t say why, or specifically when, but my perspective has gone from woe-is-me, to an appreciation of the endless possibilities available to me now.
My counselor (who specializes in counseling people that are recovering from near-death experiences) gave me a preview of this transition, and so I’ve been anxiously awaiting this mental transformation.
The new possibilities I’m referencing, are not in spite of the brain injury, but because of it.
There are things that were certainly taken away from me (balance, memory, speed…) but these skills keep evolving & this injury offers me an excellent story (perfect for a writer) as well as increased empathy.
To amplify the awesomeness, everything embodies that brand-new shininess.
Excitement is provoked. 🙂
