I just had an awesome coffee get-together with a man I met at my housewarming party about a week ago. He’s clearly an entrepreneur that values meaning far more than $. I am generally quite pleased w/ our generation, that’s acting in a similar vein. I really wonder, what good is $ without happiness?
It makes sense though, given that we’re a relatively young country, that we value money above meaning. Consider a toddler: What are they most cognitively occupied with?
Answer: their immediate needs, specifically survival.
And what is survival for American’s?
Answer: Essentially solid choices & $.
Either you naturally (+ great parents are quite helpful) have the capability to make solid decisions or not. $ you can gain without extensive personal work (and therefore it’s considered “easier” than personal work.)
But I believe the current generation in America is re-evaluating this priority structure.
I believe the way I’ve presented this story makes it fairly obvious, that I value this maturation greatly.
I’m proud of our country + it’s become clear, why I value europe so much (besides their awesome clothing). They’re simply a more developed culture & therefore, value deepness (feeling) much more. Hence, why they take more time to enjoy meals (savoring each morsel fully) & often make it a priority to eat with long-standing loved ones.
I see beautiful wisdom in this.
