A fun movie I saw last night (and before then, I’d only heard of Lucy used as a slang term for a recreational drug). The film stars the beautiful Scarlett Johansen, as well as the talented Morgan Freeman.
In it, Scarlett is a girl who’s drug (ha- most likely my love of words is probably what excites me about this word’s double meaning:) into a drug-smuggling scheme, where a drug package is inserted into her physically (into her lower abdomen, to be exact) and she is then asked/told to transport it by taking a plane ride. She’s then incentivized by being told that her bosses, turned captors will endow her with a substantial sum of money upon the successful delivery of the drugs.
We also quickly meet Morgan Freeman, a scientist who we see telling other scientists about the brain and what an infinitesimal part of it, we as humans, actually use. I found this reality simply stunning (though it also did seem quite plausible. But the number= very small, only about 10% of the brain do we truly use.) Morgan quickly becomes Lucy’s ally, helping her to understand, as well as cope with, her new-found situation.
