I’m not sure why I always envision trees when I think of pride, but I do. Perhaps it’s because they’re often old – and you know the saying “old & wise”? Those are common prerequisites for developing pride – for smart people at least :). It’s very interesting though (and I’m frightened to admit this, as I know it’s not going to earn me popularity points ;), but while I’m ready & willing to admit it when I make a mistake (as this has become a new regularity) it’s striking how uncommon this is for people. I’m re-realizing – but with increased clarity – how human pride is.
Some people have been wonderful about this – quickly realizing their inconsistency & being happy to correct it. Others however, have been less ready to recognize & ultimately correct their mistakes. The one thing this offers me is greater information. It’s as if they’re showcasing a specific symptom = pride, essentially.
I’m quite curios though, what causes it? Where does this pride originate?
