Blood

I’ve always been attracted to the color red and scared of blood. I considered this very strange, until my yoga teacher, Robin, mentioned vrittis. That actually explained quite a bit to me. A website I found on the topic explained this in depth. It said your consciousness (or chitta in yogic terms) is a lake. At the bottom of the lake is your valid self and the waves are the vrittis.

Robin made a good point too: it’s not internal blood I’m attracted to or rebellious of, it’s external blood, like when someone gets hurt.

I first asked my mom if there was any reason for my fear of blood (such as a past experience, perhaps) but she said no. I never broke any bones as a young person either. So naturally (for me) I began to think of my interest/disgust with blood having to do with a past life.
