It’s funny this book I’m enjoying “Brain on Fire” contains a quote that I adore and feel like I understand well. The author talks about moving home -kicking and screaming- basically her spirit protesting like crazy, but she was going because she knew she had to.

“Summit, named one of the best places to live in America by Money magazine, is an affluent suburb 20 miles from Manhattan, an affluent haven for WASPS and wall-street bankers who  congregate at the many country clubs within its six square miles.”

It’s funny, although we’re not in New York I feel this same way moving back in with my parents on Mercer Island. It’s in Washington, but is also a safe haven for well to-do people in general, which I never felt that comfy with. I prefer cities and given the opportunity, I moved to a whole different state. I greatly prefer California– which is known as the “golden state” and I’m sure this is because the gold rush featured Cali. or it’s often sunny but I think about it referring to California as a treasure trove. Anything I feel can happen there as long as you believe in it.
